We live in a very loud world don’t you think?

I’ll explain. When I was a kid I LOVED Valentine’s Day because it was so simple and all about creativity, kindness and love. That’s it. My parents would get us really cute treats of some sort, like ginormous paper clips with hearts on them.

It used to be easy: write nice notes on funny little hand-made construction paper doily-adorned cards to everyone in your classroom, put them into each person's hand-made decorated bag or box and give/eat lots of (mediocre disguised as fancy) chocolate, and fabulous candy hearts with silly words or sayings on them. SO great.

NOW: weed through 452 emails all with different spins on “Valentine’s Day/Palentine’s Day/Galentine’s Day…Whateverentine’s Day”. Plus 487 special deals/discounts/codes/events all related to this holiday (or ANY holiday) along with insane amounts of news and whatever else going on. It all feels really LOUD to me after a while.

Don’t get me wrong, we DO live in a consumer based culture and as much as people SAY they “don’t like to be sold to” etc that’s not actually true. You are being marketed to ALL THE TIME and you actually like it more than you realize! But that is another conversation-- see sale at bottom-- just kidding… sort of!

ANYWAY: it’s LOUD.

So, as we navigate internal, online and worldly “noise” it’s ever more vital to find ways to unwind/slow down/BREATHE and tune your nervous system. This has, in a nutshell, basically been one of my biggest focus points for many many years--  a life preserver of sorts. I “had to” get extremely sick in order to really discover this more deeply (among many other discoveries at that time and since then). And by the way, if I want NOISE then it had best be in the form of fabulous music, laughter and exaltations of bliss whilst frolicking by the seashore.

There are certain practices that have continuously served me and my fabulous clients when we are willing to commit to them. These practices have paid off in helping me work differently in my business in terms of focus, flow and results. Even though I've been a successful entrepreneur for over 23+ years, things like laying out marketing plans, writing, and completing a myriad of tasks are sometimes really, really challenging for me. Now I have these practices involving certain types of meditation and specific brain support, learned over the past many years, and these have made a huge difference.

I used to bolt and run off when it got too hard because it felt almost paralyzingly uncomfortable, and so I hated it/avoided/dreaded it. It took me so long to finish anything. I experienced it as too overwhelming and I was extremely self-critical. I've been able to have some breakthroughs with some of the meditation and brain health practices I have studied and practiced (some of which may surprise you). AND I should mention, I've also received a lot of support

One way to really grow is to overcome some of these barriers of receiving help and support.

Through a lot of struggle, practices AND receiving support, though it's been really hard for me over the years, I don't run off anymore. I'm much more comfortable being a little uncomfortable. Personal practices (like meditation, brain training, neurofeedback, energy work) and a lot of pieces around nutrition/testing/proper supplementation and right style movement practices all pay off.

This does not mean I love the hard things, it means I can sit with them better without them crushing me. I can turn the volume way down, and the “thing” doesn’t feel so loud anymore.

I know I've written something kind of like this in the past but not like this, not where I said: this shit has been really hard. I can sit with this. And I see the same with my clients when they allow themselves to do some of these practices with consistency. They notice in time that some of this stuff really does change. Dramatically so! They DO heal the seemingly unimaginable.

They learned to be with things in a different way, and discovered they can be truly successful by receiving the right kind of care. This is vital to thrive. If you have read this far I hope that you’re feeling some quiet calm wash over you, not the noise!
